I understand people not being "dog people" but I can't imagine hating such a creature. I'm not a cat person but I'm still the first to pet one if he comes up to me and say how cute they are. I just wouldn't own one. My dad has 2 and I always make time to go up and say hi to them.
But anyways, that woman was RUDE! Totally unnecessary to act as such. I guess I just can't wrap my mind around despising an innocent mammal SO much. Personally, I find that people who have compassion and love for animals in general are better people! I've grown up my whole life around dogs and trusting them etc so I guess it's the way you were raised as well. My aunt had a Rottweiler that my mom was deathly afraid of (my mom locked herself in a room once because she thought he was gonna attack her). Of course the dog could smell her fear. Me, being my 10 year old confident self, would just walk right up to the dog with no fear and he LOVED me (he was never aggressive w/ anyone though).
I think if you have a fear of dogs or don't wanna be around them, just ignore a dog. I would never put Jackson away locked in a room simply because the person was afraid of him. If you're coming into my house, you have to understand he's family! |
