I experiment with treats, and he seems to like most things. Some trainers like Cheerios and my vet said they are okay. Also, as some others have already said, whatever you give your dog break it into really small pieces. Also, you only get a few seconds for the dog to relate the treat to the trick, so you don't want to be standing there trying to break a dog biscuit into small pieces. When training they will get a lot of treats, and they have really small stomachs -- Ruger just graduated from puppy school and often puked right after class. He has plenty of teeth, but I'm not sure he chews his treats.
