My Jack has dry skin too. Its true with most dogs that you shouldn't bathe them too often because it will strip the oils, however, with yorkies, they do not have undercoats and will sweat and get stinky. Actually Jack's head get oily after not bathing him for a week. I usually bathe him once a week but have let him go for two weeks - never any longer than though.

The dry skin can be caused by many things. I have started using an oatmeal shampoo for Jack which helps. It could also be the type of food you are feeding your little one. That is something else that I've noticed. Since we have changed Jack's food to Innova Evo, his dry skin is not nearly as bad as it was when I was feeding him Spot's Stew/Halo.

Good luck with your little one!
