Check out the YTCA.org breeder referral website. Very reputable breeders there. I'd stay away from the AKC classifieds. AKC does not screen the breeders.
Not sure about your $1,000 budget, although it's not an impossibility. Especially on the west coast.
You may find one for under that price.....but, usually not from reputable/responsible breeders.
