1. Teach 'Leave it' with good firm voice like you mean it, but not yelling.
2. Teach 'Drop it'.
3. Say 'Ah Ah' in the same firm voice.
4. Always have toys at hand to side track their attention & have something they can have. Squeakers are good ones to get their attention.
5. Try Bitter Apple or Bitter Yuck to spray on items.
You must watch/listen for this behavior at all times. At times, I've quickly walked right up to Roxy & made her back up away from things. You will say 'Leave it' so many times it'll make you crazy, but it should pay off. Now I only have to say it once in awhile & can almost whisper it, & she knows to leave it alone. It paid off! You just have to really stay on it allll the time. Good luck! |
