I was just about to ask the same question...only see the Dobie pup in your avatar...
..if a breeder is only interested in producng a DOG, the standard is of no importance. If they are interested in producing a dog of any recognized breed they can not do it without adhering closely to the standard...and it is unethical not to do so..
