I'd definitely switch to a non-clumping litter for now. If she ingests very much of it, it could combine with the moisture in her digestive tract and turn to concrete. I panicked the first time I found my puppy snacking from the litter box. I was using the "crystal" type of cat litter and so I called the manufacturer to find out if it is toxic to dogs. They told me that it isn't. It's more expensive than the clay or clumping litter, but certainly less expensive than surgery to remove a blockage.
My yorkie shivers sometimes too, and seems unrelated to temperature. She occasionally does it in the summer.
I hope she's back to being "herself" soon. |
