1. He's about 10 lbs...how many stiches can i expect?
IDK exactly how many stitches but the incision will be less than 2" and our vet has used liquid stitch for the outside.
2. How long does it usually take to heal? (i'm having it done on a friday so that i can spend 2 straight days home with him)
Usually by the next day they are feeling considerably better and will continue to improve each day. Often times acting completely normal with a couple of days, although their activity should still be restricted.
3. Since he's 8 months and already hit puberty will he still calm down at all? (i don't really mind his puppy hyperness but i can't wait for the days when we can hang out on the couch and snuggle together :-)
Being neutered and with him maturing I would think he will calm down somewhat, soon.
4. I bought an E Collar yesterday and i put it on him for a few minutes to try to get him used to it...he HATED it!! i'm really worried that that is going to make the whole experience worse on him. I saw all the posts about the soft collars someone here makes but there is no way i'll be able to order one by friday...i'm pretty crafty and i can sew a little...does anyone know how to make them? I also so the post about the onsies, i thought about that too...do you think that would work for a boy?
IDK about the collars and onsies as I've never had to use anything like them - I've been lucky and not had any dogs bother their incision area.....but then, I'm home all day and can keep an eye on them.
