I do use the doggy wiped daily but I only brush them about once a month we haven't had this problem in 2 years and no it doesn't sound harsh i probably should have mentioned that i use the doggy wipes and some stuff my vet gave me to rub on his teeth to help them stay healthy in between i use a finger like toothbrush to put it on
