It's scarey, isn't it? We become so attached to those little furbutts so fast, and there are so many things that can go wrong... I've had to rationalize that they - like skinkids - can get sick, but usually don't. They must be properly cared for, from food and exercise to medical attention. With good luck and genetics, they will live a long and happy life. But we, as parents, need to be aware of what CAN go wrong, just so we can hopefully prevent it.

So, do your research so you're an informed "parent", but don't panic and look for things that aren't there.
