Default Kitty litter on the menu

Reesie hasn't been herself for about a month. She's about a week past her heat cycle so we know she gets 'weird' during that but we're past that and she's still not right. Not playing much, sleeps 20 out of 24, hides in the cat tower quite a bit, and just won't eat much anymore. She even refuses her treats.

I know she hadn't pooped in four days until yesterday when she left me a normal-sized present. It was full of kitty litter! That tells me she's also been eating out of the litter box. Not good!

There's no sign of any infection, she's just got the blahs, but I was worried about the kitty litter. Will that hurt her? I've heard stories about dogs adding cat poop to their menu because it's high in protein, but I'd rather have her excited about kibbles. She'll eat boiled chicken and rice, but my daughter found that the only thing she would eat regularly was Cesar so she was on that. Now, she just walks away from it.

Is she still having hormone problems being just off of her cycle, or is this telling us she needs a vet visit?
