I home cook and only use Bison. I'd love to find wild game such as venison and rabbit.
I worked with my vet to do an elimination diet to try to find the culprit. Luckily, chicken was the first thing we eliminated and his itching went away after several weeks. I do think he has mild allergies to certain grains, also. Rather than do another elimination diet to find out which grains he's sensitive to, I've chosen to feed all of mine a grain-free diet. I think they're all doing wonderfully on it.

Oh, I wanted to add that early on I inadvertently bought food a couple of times that contained chicken. Within 2 weeks Alex would be gnawing on his paws again. As soon as I stopped those foods, he stopped gnawing.
