At one time, I was uneducated about the term "teacup" because the term is used so much by certain "breeders" and pet shops, that most people believe that there are "teacup" Yorkies. It's great that forums like YorkieTalk exist, otherwise, people will continue to buy into the teacup propaganda.
Additionally, I have a "teapot" (this is the first time I heard this) and when people see her, they ask if she is a Yorkie mix because she is "big" (this include Yorkie owners). I do get upset with that question because most people think that adult Yorkies are suppose to be 2lbs or 3lbs - and are unaware that the Yorkie standard is 7lbs. According to my vet, Chi-Chi will be 8-9lbs as a adult and just because she will be above the standard does not make her a mix. So, I can relate to the others that have Yorkies that are above the standard. |
