I leave a fresh bowl of food for my 2 girls and free feed as well . Never had any problems with the food going old or smelly . It is dry kibble, and the bag is also sealed in fresh . My 2 girls fininsh off a bowl of food every 2 days , and when the bowls get dirty I clean them out.
The water bowls, they get 2 fresh bowls a day , and if their is any brown in the water dish that gets cleaned out fast ! my girls have bottled water to drink too.
If it was canned food , I would clean the bowls out each time . That is the difference , or raw food . That Imo needs extra care and adjustment in their daily diets.
