We then read all the symptoms and signs online and he did not have any. The only thing is he is small
he is year and 3 months old and weighs 3 lbs but we just thought he is small. So we then took him from UCD and he had several test done. He had one blood test before he ate in a empty stomach then they fed him and after some time to let his food digest they took a second blood test. His first blood test showed his bio chemistrys very HIGH. His second blood test after he was giving food came out normal.
They also did a ultra sound and that looked normal. The vet brought a liver shunt specialist in and he said that he doesn't think their isn't a shunt. But they didn't know why his bio chemistrys were high. So that was a very long day at UCD for all of us. They wanted us to leave him that night to do the technisian scan but we said no because he
had so much anxiety already we didn't want to put him thru more stress. So now I am trying to figure what I should do an also get feed back from people who are fimiliar with this. So that is where I am now.

I started my female yorkie on a raw diet and I
scared to get Jim started on it because I am not sure if he can or cannot handle it. It's just so tough not knowing.
no do not do raw diet as those are high protein diets and he needs a highly digestible protein diet like fish, etc. Ok so sounds like post was normal and pre was high ? and sounds like maybe alt was high on blood chemistry - do you have the blood work there to type up what was high for us and what the bats were as if pre was high and post normal not sure test was done accurately as post is after food is introduced to see how liver functions so the fact that a specialist does NOT think it is a shunt my guess is this test is unnecessary again. I would hold off and redo bats on a low protein diet in 30 days

the alt can be high from meds, excessive exercise, toxins. Due to him being small like that is one sign as many times the tinies are prone to liver shunt but the tinies with shunts have hypoglycemic attacks and are usually very picky eaters and they get spaced out after eating or have seizures after eating or they walk along with walls of the house. Have you seen any of this? Was your dog on any meds before this blood work was done?
