Hello and welcome to YT! Sorry to hear about your little guy.
You can try giving him a little canned pumpkin. Pure Pumpkin and not pie filling. If he won't take it on his own you may have to put some in a larger syringe and have him take it that way. Mine are not fans of it.

Good luck but it sounds like you have it under control by going to your vet.
