I have seen many neighborhood dogs abused because they were "just dogs", dogs left in animal shelters because they were "just dogs", dogs dumped because they were "just dogs", dogs not vaccinated because they were "just dogs". My furbabies are members of our family and are treated as such, they have the food they need, the shelter they need (our home, our bed), the doctors and insurance they need, toys they need, a fenced yard they need. Their needs are met, just like our needs are. I feel if you can't or won't take care of an animal then don't get one. I have had people make fun of me for taking care of my babies the way I do, but it doesn't bother me, they are taken care of and treated as they should be.
