Hey,

Just a quick question. I am on my last bag of puppy food for my little Sophie (she just turned 8 months, and this will be the last bag of puppy food I buy for her...kind of makes me want a new sibling for her...=)) ... but she is still scratching so the vet told me to find her a different food that didn't have grains, corn, wheat and now egg. Sophie is also a picky eater and prefers fish over chicken and beef. Well she likes lamb, but I can't find a food the is grain-free, egg free etc. The closest one I have come across is Acana's lamb and apple, but it isn't free of everything the vet wants.

She has tried Acana's Pacifica and she liked it but I have also heard more about Orijen's 6 Fish. She hasn't tried the Orijen one (I can't find a trial bag of it anywhere, and I don't want to buy a whole bag of it yet), but I don't think it will be a problem for her to eat.

The ingredients pretty much seem close - one seems to have more fruits/vegetables and the other seems to have more fish products, I believe.

Right now she is on Halo Spot's Stew Salmon for puppies and likes it still, but the vet said with needing to switch foods, now would be a good time to get rid of the eggs and other grains in the food, as she hasn't had a huge improvement with her scratching. I was told to try a food switch before they did any further tests. They have checked her for parasites, skin issues etc and found nothing and can only assume it is an allergy. So, they are doing the elimination with us first.

I need to make the decision as soon as possible as her tummy doesn't do well with new food, so I was advised to start adding new food as soon as possible (like 5-10 pieces of kibble every day) to at least get her stomach used to it...and keep adding a couple more until I have run out of her puppy food and her stomach is used to it.

I just want opinions....I am leaning toward Acana, but research is pointing me toward Orijen...so I want opinion's from people who have dogs with allergies, or what they know about the food. I have never had a dog with so many allergies/sensitive stomach issues, so I don't even know where to begin.

PS At the risk of sounding ridiculous, how do you pronounce Orijen? Is it the obvious way and sounds like origen? Or have I completely gone off track with it? =)
