Reesie has the cotton coat and I've started to let it grow just like you have. I wanted her hair longer around her face and even have something to fasten a bow to near her ears. The fur on top of her head is silky but her body is all black cotton.
Every morning I get out the little brush, put a towel on the table, and then put her up there for a brush-out. At first she didn't like it but now waits patiently while I get everything ready. Yesterday I was gently brushing around the top of her head and she put her nose against my chest and her eyes were closing, so I think I'm doing it right.
My wife thinks she looks better with the puppy cut and maybe that's what I'll have done once winter is over.
