i have been half looking for a new groomer for a few months science mine moved out of the city and i was forced to go back to petsmart and once again they ignored me. so for like 5 months gatsby has not had a trim (and he really needs one ) i brush him every night but its not helping

well today i was meeting a friend for lunch and as pull into the plaza i see a woman walking a small mix of some kind and from where i am in my car i an tell the dog is mated i think oh how sad and then i see her walk into a unmarked door and i got very confused so i walk over and they have a hand written sign that says "happy tails pet groomer,full groom $30 nails $5" well i went into the restaurant i was meeting my friend at and choose a table facing the grooming place and about 45 min later the same dog come out and i could not believe it the dog was not shaved it looked like someone had brushed and combed and washed the tangles out and if i didn't know better i would have thought the dog was matted bad so now im wondering what should i ask a new groomer before i take my dogs thear the only thing i can think of is
do you use cage dryers? can i come take a tour? and can i bring my own shampoo?
so what else shouls i ask
