I know it shouldn't get me annoyed but why do people breed before finding out the information they need. Many people work so hard at protecting this wonderful breed and it annoys me when people continue to put the cart before the horse. I dont believe in telling others weather they can or cant breed but at least they should do their reserch first. I know accidents do happen but for me theres no excuse for not doing research, many think just because their pet carries certain lines it justifies breeding from them, but even good lines carry problems.
Sorry just needed to get this off my chest. |
Thank you for this post, sometimes I feel very alone on this matter. I really hate seeing what's been done to most purebreds. It not only bothers me when someone doesn't know anything about breeding, it bothers me even more, when they think they know it all. Seems like people can read a few websites and become experts. Many of the breeders I do respect, say how they are constantly learning. I often encourage buyers to support only the best of breeders; those who breed to standard. I think buyers need to be aware that they are giving breeders a gold star every time they purchase a dog from them, you are saying you approve of this breeder, and what they are doing to the Yorkshire Terrier breed. Our rescues and shelters are filled with pets, if you just want a pet, I hope you go to a rescue or shelter, but if you really want to see that the yorkie is around 100 years from now, find a really good breeder and support him/her.
