I have Annie, who is AKC registered. She is my angel, had a 6 lb mom and a 4 lb daddy. I know the breeder, even met the 4 lb. grandma, but Annie grew to be 14 lbs at 5 years old. She is healthy, happy, loving and full of energy. I didn't intend to breed her (I would want to keep all the puppies), and I wouldn't trade her for any other "standard" Yorkie....so AKC doesn't mean all that much if someone just wants a dog with a great personality and temperment. I think the guidelines were intended to keep the breed pure and within standard, but sometimes nature goes outside the guidelines.
I do feel that there is too much snobbery when it comes to
whether a beautiful Yorkie is AKC or CKC or whatever, but I guess that's just human nature. |
Oh Thank you!!! I was in love with him too until he chewed up a leg on my coffee table..lol.. I'm just kidding, I still love him..He has discovered that he can howl!! It is the funniest thing..and then my 3 yr old skin kid that terrorizes everyone in the house, suddenly becomes sweet and comes running yelling, I'm coming Mickey!! It is too funny.. I didn't know she could be nice..lol I am sooo gonna miss him...If he ever finds his new mommy that is...
