I have only had 2 pups, one from a BYB and one from a decent breeder. The first, from the BYB, was the runt and the most unhealthy. We've spent thousands on him for vet visits and ER vet visits. Our girl was the largest in the litter and she's only been to the vet for being sick once, and it was the first time she had diarreah so I took her in because I was paranoid lol. I really think the main thing was the quality of the breeders, but if I had to pick with only size being an option I'd chose bigger, but if you're more attached to the smaller (and you trust your breeder) then trust your gut!
