I scooped Missy up and the coyote passed by my kids and I. It was so close that if I leaned over I could have reached out and touched it (no joke). The coyote that was euthanized about 3 weeks ago was captured in the school field. I see them walking up my street regularly, and have come out in the morning to a coyote standing at the end of my driveway. They are a problem because they DO take people pets, many cats go missing in our neighbourhood, and they do bite children. I have proof. Here is a link to the article where a toddler was bitten a few times by a coyote while she was playing in her front yard. This happened exactly 3 blocks from my home. In my earlier post I said that she was bitten in the arm and chest, but that was actually another child. This one was bitten in the neck and head. I live in a housing addition and a few houses up there is a huge culvert. A guy who lives next to it works nights and comes in about 3 a.m. He told me one night he counted 23 coyotes coming up and they went through that culvert.
Kacee has a fenced-in yard, but I have never let her go out by herself. It isn't just coyotes that I would worry about. It could be something as simple as a snake, not to mention all of the other creatures out there. |

I don't know if I would go outside!
YorkieUSA, you are so right about snakes and creatures...I live in the woods and nighttime is soooo dark here....this is why I prefer piddle pads.
