Dogs cannot contract human herpes, and the herpes virus cannot live outside the body. Otherwise we'd be picking it up from water glasses, etc. They are not like cold germs, which can live for a while on surfaces like door handles, or be transmitted in the air. So your dog can't get it, and can't pass it to you. You're safe.
