It's always recommended to have the boy/girl combo but I think either works. Especially if your current boy doesn't have any dominance/aggression issues. My boy, Jackson, honestly loves/likes every dog he meets and my next one will be a little boy as well. Alot of people have 2 or 3 boys together and have no issues whatsoever.
