To My Buddy To My Buddy
I held an Angel in my arms for all the world to see;
When, old and feeble,
I saw his pain, tearfully I set him free;
But losing him, in grief imprisoned me.
How I wish I had more strength, harder I had tried
To keep his mortal body healthy, to keep him by my side;
But I failed, and he is gone; and with him, my heart died.
Every morn I wake with tears and pain,
I reach for Buddy; alas, I reach in vain;
A broken heart; never to hold him again.
To those who hold an Angel, please hear me say:
Cherish every moment, treasure each day;
Once in a lifetime does an angel come your way.
To Buddy from “Daddy”, heartbroken
