We have only been on one trip since we got our Yorkie and my daughter and son-in-law kept her at their house. They have a ShihTsu and a poodle mix and Abby and the Shih Tsu love to play together. I packed all kinds of treats and toys and told my daughter how to mix her food so she would eat, left all kinds of written instructions. Wouldn't you know it, she ate the adult dog food my daughter gives her dogs, no problem. My daughter sent a little bag home with her and of course she wouldn't touch it at home!
When we had our rat terrier we left her a couple of times with a lady from church. She has 4 kids, they all loved Peanut. They let Peanut have the run of the house and only put her in her crate to sleep at night. They even took her riding in the car. She only charged $10 a day, I was so lucky to have her.
I haven't taken Abby on a trip yet, but maybe we will this summer. She is getting pretty dependable going potty. The only thing I worry about is that dog friendly hotel rooms have had all kinds of dogs staying there, I worry about other dogs' hair and stuff. |
