Caring breeders don't mind a few more weeks with pups underfoot to insure a bright future for them.
No doubt my breeder said she would not allow him to come home with me until he was 12 weeks, she said she was happy to have him, and wanted him to be strong, well socialized and healthy. Now I had to wait five weeks, and it thought I was going to go crazy, i begged i pleaded.

She was very nice, and always told me if I really wanted him, I would wait until HE was ready. Sometimes, there are reasons to get them sooner. My girlfriend got a puppy at 4 weeks, because his mama died. But the little fella had all kinds of problems. I am so glad I waited, as soon as we got Obie, I took him to the vet. The vet was so impressed by his care. So i was thankful! i will never breed him. I signed a contract stating I could not get his AKC papers until he was neutered. I knew this, and I also knew I would never breed. So this was no problem. She does a great job, and she did keep one of the litter pups for breeding, but she has been doing this for 17 years. Even as a hobby, I couldn't imagine. I watched a video, and oh my.

I am a big fan, and if I ever think about getting another one, I will get him from a breeder!
