I can only talk for silky terriers, like yorkies they don't have an under coat, and like human hair, we do loose a number ammount of hairs a day, is not like normal dogs with an undercoat shadding but yes some hair loss is normal, I see it when I brush my dogs every day, NOT a lot but a little hairs do stay in the hair brush.
