Depending on how large and how deep the hole is, I would treat the area with a good antibiotic salve --- I have found that Emu OIL is the greatest. The product I use is produced by a company called Laid in Montana

I would be careful about the overuse of antibiotic shots .... they interfere with the body's natural ability to fight off infections and one day you might have a life and death issue and will not want your baby's natural immune system to have build up a resistance to the antibiotic.
