I am right there with ya! We have a yorkie and a 7yr old beagle mix. We tried the two bowls at first but the Yorkie would eat out of the other dogs bowl! He hated having his own bowl. So honestly we settled on a food that would work for both of them. I am not sure what the other people here would say as I am sure there is some sort of special food you can buy just for Yorkies but we don't do that. Just to complicated especially because they are going to eat each others food anyway.
We have always been Purina One lamb and rice people. The food pieces are very small so they are easy for the Yorkie to eat and Stedman likes them to. The Yorkie still eats only when he wants...as does the bigger dog. We fill the bowl and they both eat what they want out of it. If they seem like they are still hungry we will put more in. We have no way to know how much they are actually eating but they are both a very health weight...not to fat and not to skinny! Now if we had a doggie who would just eat and eat as long as there was food in the bowl then that would be a different story. We have been and always will be open feeders.

 Good Luck!
