Chewie has been sleeping in his doggy bed on the floor in my bedroom ever since I got him. Your puppy is still young, he should be able to see you from where he is sleeping so he will feel safe. Put a tshirt that you have worn for a few days in his bed or crate so he can smell your scent and somehow feel your nearness. The poor thing is probably scared when you leave him in the kitchen at night. But I'm guessing he is still not used to his surroundings.
It's normal for puppies to cry and bark in the night, they are hust like human babies.
