I have adopted from a yorkie rescue group and they were in no way intrusive in my personal life, nor did they ask inappropriate questions as you are suggesting. I now volunteer and foster for another yorkie rescue group and while we may have many questions, they all pertain to the well being of the pups and are very important in ensuring proper placement and a happy, healthy environment. I'm not saying adoptiing from a rescue is for everyone, but please don't give others the idea that it's a bad experience - because it isn't. These little guys in rescue are wonderful, adorable, loveable babies that deserve a good home. |
Reputable rescues do everything possible to place the right family with the right dog. Yes, they do ask questions and conduct home visits, but then so do reputable breeders. It is all done in what is best for the dog. They do not want to see said dog back in rescue.
Rescue is not for everyone, and as in picking a puppy from a reputable breeder, homework should be done in advance.
