So sorry to hear about your friend, so sad. poor doggie must be missing her. So nice of you to take him in. it will take time but he should warm up. its just all new to him. I think keeping him in the bedroom & hall is what I would do too. I dont care for the crating or tethering him that might make him even more stressed out. keeping him off in another room I think is best, this way he can hear and see all of you yet have his own space for now. I wouldn't do the belly band either unless you catch him marking. good luck and keep us updated on him.
