You didn't say whether you meant a male or a female.

Weight is only one consideration when determining whether to breed. In a female; she should be above 5 pounds, but you must consider if she comes from a long line of free whelpers, make sure that she is examined (sonogram) to ensure that her reproductive organs are in good shape, and can carry puppies to term (she may concieve 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or even 6 puppies).


In a female and male both must be within breed standard; and a good representation of the breed and free of faults and genetic defects.
