Just now I was rubbing Harley over looking for burrs etc and felt a weird scab on his rear left flank. It was raised off the skin quite a bit so I scratched it but it didn't pop off. Harley gave me a dirty look for picking at it but I had a weird feeling about it. So I got a hold of it between my finger nail tips and pulled. And out popped a HUGE thorn!
I was like what in the heck!? It must have really hurt him but I hadn't noticed him licking or chewing on that area at all. And it had to have been there for a quite a while bc it had scabbed completely over. When I looked back down at his skin where it had come out of it was like a gaping hole! Eeek! So I sort of pinched it and out came some yellow liquid/puss so I wiped it with peroxide and then dabbed some neosporin on it. Did I do the right thing? Should I have any reason to worry?
