Lol, I'm getting confused too, I think I'm answering around three threads asking the same stuff, but yes, I think when a female lifts their leg they are marking. I think you are correct that you can sort of tell by the size of the puddle, Joey will lift his leg sometimes outside, and I swear not even a drop is coming out. Now that he's older, he only pees a couple of times a day inside, and it's a good size amount. I've read that unneutered dogs leave a really strong scent when marking, but neutering eliminates this strong scent.
