I waited till I had Joey neutered, just because it sounded painful, and I thought it might be better to have him under. Some people have said that it's no more pain then a regular shot, but if it were up to me, I'd probably want them under for those too!
So much depends on who's doing the shots or microchips, some people have better techniques than others.
