I'm so confused I don't want to breed but I don't want to spay. |
Hi... You must get better informed about spay / neuter and many other procedures.
Death risk is very minimal, but it is not exclusive of the Spay, for an example, in theory shots can kill too, but we all know that the benefits of vaccination outweigh the risks by far! If you cross the street there is a risk of death... my friend just lost his mom... she came out of the gate in front of her house, and a driver who had lost control hit her causing instant death... the risk is there but we all are going to come out of our front gates.
Please do not misunderstand me. I am not trying to be sarcastic and you have a VERY VALID CONCERN. You just need to educate your self and research in order to minimize the risks as much as you can.
Learning about the difference between large and small breeds and how they behave under anesthesia is a first step. Researching the vets available in your area, how they do the procedure, what type of anesthesia they use, hysterectomy X Ovarianhisterectomy ? Pros and cons.
Best age to have the Spay performed. Risks of getting a dog spayed while she is in heat or in season.
Use of pain management and restraining after the procedure.
basically, there will always be risks on anything in life.
But being educated and being proactive on your end can help you choose the best method to get your dogs spayed and MINIMIZE ALL THE RISK FACTORS.
Today's available resources can provide a vet and a pet owner with tools to make the spay/ neuter experience a very safe and good one !
Just keep looking into it ! I am sure you will be able to get the CONFIDENCE to get your girls fixed and enjoy the benefits !
All you need is more knowledge !
