A lady in my neighborhood owns two Great Danes. When she is out with one of them, we wave and keep going. Jackson, the Harlequin, does not like small dogs at all. He practically pulls the owner down the street. Dakota, the Brindle, is very gentle. She loves small dogs but we are very careful when she meets the Yorkies, I keep mine back enough so that they don't get stepped on. That would be a tragedy. But the Brindle is very gentle and sweet.
