There is so much misinformation on this forum, it is very difficult for a new member to know what to believe.
Most of the misinformation is given in the heat of an argument when everyone is in attack mode and they will say anything to bring down their prey.
I cannot tell you how many times I have been attacked for some comment I have made and then later in another thread, see those same attackers on the other side of the fence.
You have always been a voice of reason, not taking any side, for the sake of peer approval. I respect your comments and advice.
OK so you don't like the term hobby breeders, non exhibitor breeders? where do we fit. Surly there has to be a better term than BYb to describe someone who tries to breed ethically but chooses not to show. |
Sad to say if it is not in their by-laws about some of their breeding practices then nothing can be done. No one broke any rules in regards to off colored yorkies. In terms of reporting another member, the one member has to submit the claim along with x amount of $$$. If the claim is found not true then the person who made the claim loses their $$$. This stops a lot of the petty crap but doesn't protect the dogs. It is very difficult to paint everything black and white but code of ethics, bylaws and constitutions do try to keep everyone on the straight and narrow. The breeders that had off colored Yorkies show up and culled them were more concerned that people thought something got into the hen house...not about being kicked out of YTCA..they were concerned with their breeding reputation I suspect. Same reason breeders that have a Liver Shunt puppy don't say a word...they don't want their reputation tarnished...
I do not like the term hobby breeder because, I have hobbies and no one pays for them and I certainly don't expect to break even with my hobbies. It really bothers me that people would breed for a hobby when we are killing millions of dogs...that is not a hobby.
Actually I really think everyone should go into the showring for their breeding dogs at least once. I don't think you have to go into the AKC ring but I think you can have wonderful experiences with IABCA and NAKC.
I will tell you that I rarely post anything unless I have researched it...to many people on YT post their opinions based on what was told to them and they can't even click on goggle and see what is the truth. Things have changed over the years on how we treat animals from when I was a child but I am blown away when a 20 year old makes statements their grandmothers used to make...
There is so much more information on the internet and wonderful books and I wish more people would spend time reading and searching then coming on YT and asking....
