Heartguard is for the prevention of heartworms...Once a dog has heartworms you need other medication...so I am confused. Did a vet tell you that your little one had heartworms or did he say it needs to be on heartworm med for the prevention and someone told you, you could order it cheaper somewhere else than at the vets?
