Thanks for posting these; many of us stay on Yorkietalk because we are trying to educate others about finding a good breeder. My personal thoughts are that if you cannot be sure that your breeder isn't contributing to the pet overpopulation, you should get your dog from a shelter or rescue. Responsible breeders ALWAYS take their dogs back and rehome them, if necessary. Anyone can join Yorkietalk and membership here is not an indication that someone is a responsible breeder. Many breeders have learned to talk the talk, but it really is no easy task to find a really good breeder.

One of the biggest challenges facing Yorkietalk members is new members who join and want to breed. Encouraging them to seek more information is often futile. Unfortunately, too many people are selling dogs with full breeding rights, and these dogs are usually the poorest representatives of the breed. I wish all breeders would sell with limited registration, and only sell breeding dogs after the dog had been properly accessed for breeding potential.

Thank you so much for the links, I especially liked this one, Backyard Breeders' Excuse List, I hear those excuses all the time. Please stay around, the more information we have, the more we can pass it on.
