How old is Obie (and cute name by the way
)? I know when I got Monkey, he had that thick black puppy hair. I would say after he was about 8 months old, his hair did start feeling a little thinner and started turning pretty white on his scalp. Look at the hair in his brush/comb after brushing him. You probably see a really fuzzy type of hair in it. I believe this is their puppy hair that they sort of "shed" I guess you would say. His started to become much shinier and really pretty. Also, as their hair gets longer, it will naturally part on it's own. Just like us, there are all sorts of hair textures. Sometimes it just has a mind of it's own. However, if you think it's a sort of balding issue, go see your vet right away! I hope I helped a little!
