Just because a lot of people are doing it doesn't mean that it's right. Many studies and just experiences in general have shown that pups kept with the litter until 10-12 weeks have much more well developed social skills and are less prone to behavior problems in the future. Caring breeders don't mind a few more weeks with pups underfoot to insure a bright future for them.
