Piper also does the same thing. Drives me NUTS! She is jumping against my leg to pick her up and then backs off when you reach towards her. She'll be all excited to go out for a walk but again back off when you go to pick her up. Sometimes she'll even go to another room. I've learn to ignore her when she does this and 99% of the time she'll be back quickly and then lets me pick her up. It's the strangest behavior. My male Yorkie that I had for 13 years never did that. It does make you think that your baby is afraid of you and that upsets me.
