My Maddie too!!! This is one behavior that really drives me nuts!!! Even when it's something she wants to do, like go for a walk. I get out her harness and leash and tell her walk and she's all excited. Go to pick her up to put her harness on and she starts the backing up and what I call boxer dance. She pounces side to side like a boxer in the boxing ring. If you move towards her she backs up more. Finally get her cornered and tell her "up" and she stands there and looks at me like "well if you wanted to pick me up, why didn't you just say so!" It is funny though, every time I pick her up, I say "up" and she actually lifts herself to help me pick her up. Especially out of her x-pen potty area in the back yard.

The only time this is not an issue is when we say "wanna go for a ride?" and she runs to the garage door and stands perfectly still for you to pick her up. I have even found that the last time she "escaped" out of the house (had workers in house that left door open) all I had to do was holler down the street "Maddie, wanna go for a ride" she turned tail and ran straight back to me. Of course.... we went for a ride....
