You make a good point, injuries can occur. Injuries can also occur if you own any breed larger than a yorkie while having yorkies though. Common sense can prevent injuries. My yorkies are never out doors with the larger dogs unless close supervision is provided, no rough housing inside the house at all, etc.. Our rescued Freedom was raised with large dog according to the rescue, he is very savvy and is a teapot. Our rescue Jax is both blind and diabetic and is in someones arms at all times, protecting him from everything.
I am sure an injury could still occur even being as careful as we are, but the chances can be lessened.
