How often do you walk you yorkie? And for how long? It sounds to me that your yorkie might need a little more stimulation and activity directed by you? If they get bored they find all kinds of ways to entertain themselves(such as chewing on everything), and most often by doing things we do not want them to do.
My yorkie is very sceptical to people we meet on our walks. She starts barking, and does not really want to be in physical contact with them. I'm thinking that in my eagerness to socialize her I might have let too many people say hello and pet her on our walks, and it has made her nervous. Now I no longer stop to let people pet her, and she slowly gets better and can now pass people without starting to bark at them. She is great with other people, animals and children when she has had some time around them and have figured they are not a threat. Maybe it is the same with your dog? She is nervous of strangers and need some time before she relaxes and wants to say hello? Just a thought... |
